Maps Unit Day 1
Standard: SS 1.2.1 Locate places and spaces using geographic tools.
a. Explain that maps and globes are different representations of Earth.
b. Describe locations using terms related to direction and distance. For example, forward/backward, left/right, near/far, next to, close, etc.
c. Recite address, city, state, country, and explain how those labels help find places on a map.
d. Distinguish between land and water on a map and globe.
e. Create simple maps showing both human and natural features.

Culminating Project: The final project for this unit will be a map of a place you choose. It could be your room, house, neighborhood, or town. The map can be in whatever form you choose; digital, paper, or even 3 dimensional. These projects are due Thursday, October 29th. Please bring them to school to share with your class and teacher along with your completed packet.
